The history of this house, once nicknamed “The Cage,” is a story of death, disease, and unspeakable horror. It allegedly served as housing for plague victims during the Middle Ages, then it became a temporary prison, in which eight innocent women were held before being executed for witchcraft in the 16th Century.
Today, this creepy cottage in St. Osyth, Essex is reportedly one of the most haunted buildings in England… and now, thanks to a frightening new photo taken by a paranormal investigator, we may be seeing the first solid glimpse of the malevolent force behind the hauntings.
Vanessa Mitchell (shown above with ghost-hunter Micky Rawlins) has owned the cottage for eleven years — much longer than any prior owner. In fact, some of the house’s previous occupants are believed to have killed themselves within its walls. Mitchell claims that during most of the past decade she has witnessed multiple bizarre and often terrifying phenomena, including several physical assaults — the most violent being an attack which occurred while she was pregnant, when she was shoved roughly to the floor by an unseen force.
But it wasn’t until a few months ago that she realized it was time to put the house up for sale and get the hell out: it happened when Mitchell reportedly witnessed an evil presence — which she describes as a large, dark humanoid figure with a demonic, goat-like face — lingering over her eight-year-old son’s bed.
“I honestly believe the house is cursed,” Mitchell told the UK’s Daily Star. “There is something evil in there… I’ve had every medium, psychic and investigator in to try to get rid of it.”
When the following image was captured during a recent investigation of the house by Rawlins, showing what appears to be a large, hollow-eyed visage reflected in a window, Mitchell realized she couldn’t tolerate the house and its “spooky residents” any longer.
“I’ve had enough,” she told the paper, “and the devil goat picture has led me to finally put it on the market.”
