The Colombian city of Manizales had been left devastated by the natural disaster, which killed at least 17 people and destroyed dozens of homes.
A Jesus-shaped cloud that appeared in the sky comforted residents after their city was ravaged by a killer landslide.
Residents of Manizales had been left devastated by the natural disaster last Wednesday, which killed at least 17 people.
But many took comfort in the sight of the holy figure seen in the sunlight slanting through clouds above the Colombian city in Caldas.
The rare cloud phenomenon was recorded on a mountain called Sancancio.
It appeared days after heavy rains caused earth to surge down the mountain, destroying several homes.
Several people are still feared to be missing, authorities said.
Marya de Iesus shared a video of the cloud on social media, where many people commented that it was a sign of Jesus of Nazareth.
She wrote: “Jesus Christ was visiting our Colombian town, he calmed down the sky and was listened to.
“God blesses us and glory to Lord and Universe King.”
On the video, a man can be heard in the background saying: “Oh, my God, my blessed God, come here to see the misery. Look at this, look at this, blessing God.
“Glory to the Lord. Do you see the Lord there, standing up?”
The video went viral on social networks and was shared more than 28,000 times.
Sandra Mejia said: “In this moment of pain, people want to believe it is a divine item that gives them hope and strength to keep on living and fighting.”
Angel Sanchez was among a group of people who linked the phenomenon to a conspiracy theory that NASA is trying to bring about a new world order by using mind control.
They said: “What fools people, have you not heard of the secret project called Blue Beam?”
However, others said that this was a simple shaft of sunlight breaking through clouds.
Noe Bazan wrote: “This is a natural phenomenon with the light of the sun through different types of clouds. It happens in all parts of the world.”
